| How did I find my race team??? September 2003- I remembered back in 1997 I rode with a guy from Fremont Freewheelers Bike club. I don't remember his name, but he was telling me about his club and how well organized it was. That is the first place I was going to look. It turned out to be my last. I was very fascinated with the club's website and easy going attitude with the riders. Through the website, I was able to get an insight to each riders' perspective on racing, their experiences and overall approach to racing. This helped me get an idea of what I was getting into. Before my bike had even arrived from EBay in September of 2003, I joined the Fremont Freewheelers Race Team (FFBC). Turns out I joined at the right time, the team was winding down their racing season. Garry Birch, the skipper who is an all around great personality explained that the team goes into training mode in the fall for the upcoming racing season in January. It would give me a chance to build my base before the full on racing season. Great..I was all set! Now having a full season of racing under my belt, I have gotten a chance to ride with most all of the team members. Richard Brockie has taken a large role in the race team's operation and for 2005, we will have a strong team with Garry and Richard both running the club. Also on the Fremont Freewheelers website, you'll find a lot of my race reports, as well as other reports from the other members of the team. Click here to go to race reports. All of my reports are under "Road Races" or "Criterium". I have one report under "Stage Races". Thanks for checking us out! If there are any businesses or people that would be interested in a sponsorship for the club, please let me know so I can direct you to the right person!
