3/15/06 How many bikes am I going to go through this year??
Finally, on to my bike section. It kept changing in the past few weeks. All I can do is laugh,
some of these happenings have been unbelievable.
I started out this year with a brand new Giant TCR Advanced in a size small. It fit me really
well, and was super light. I mean weight weenie light. I estimated it tipping the scales at
13lbs and change. Unfortunately, the rear derallieur hanger snapped off and sent the
derallieur into my back wheel, where it came around and smacked the seat stay. This
resulted in a trip to the bike shop and then the frame was sent for repairs.
While it was being fixed, I sold my cyclocross bike to get a back up road frame so I could at
least train and race. I found a used Specialized S-works E5 in silver on ebay, and had that
built up with my old parts. This was a good solid back up bike I thought. Poor little sucker
only lasted a week before getting crashed out at Snelling. Good thing Specalized has a
crash replacement, I got a new frame for cheap. Now, I'm back up on the red Specialized
S-works E5. My Giant is ready, and I am planning to built it back up with new parts.
